How to Order the Right Center Cap the First Time
Ordering a wheel center cap online sounds simple - until it shows up and doesn't fit. This happens more often than it should, and it's rarely the buyer's fault.
Why the wrong cap gets shipped
Most online sellers match caps by car model alone - "Volkswagen Golf," "Audi A4." But that's not enough. The same model can have several different wheel types across trims and model years, each with a different cap size and mounting style. A cap that fits a 2015 Golf on 16" wheels may not fit a 2018 Golf on 17" wheels.
What actually determines the fit
Three things decide whether a cap fits your wheel - not the car model:
- Outer diameter of the cap (mm)
- Mounting (inner) diameter in the wheel (mm) - this is the number that matters most
- Or the original part number, if you know it or can find it stamped on the back of your old cap or on the wheel itself
How to get it right - every time
Before you order, send us one of these:
- A photo of your current cap (front and back)
- A photo of the wheel with the mounting hole visible
- The part number, if you have it
