How to choose the right caps for alloy wheels?

Many motorists do not understand how exactly to select this accessory for alloy wheels. Due to the small size of the caps, low cost, most simply do not pay enough attention to them. We draw attention to the fact that the radius of the disk does not affect the size of the caps.

On our website, in the "Characteristics" tab, four main sizes are indicated in millimeters:

  • the thickness of the rim cap body, it coincides with the width from the edge of the disc to the mounting flange;
  • the height of the rim cap latch, i.e. the width of the mounting flange in the cast disk;
  • internal (seat) diameter of the rim cap, i.e. the diameter of the mounting flange in the disk;
  • the outer diameter of the rim cap, it coincides with the outer diameter of the hub hole, or may be smaller.

For example, 6/4/56/60 - this means that the body of the cap has a thickness 6mm, latch height 4mm, internal diameter 56mm, outer diameter 60mm.

How to correctly measure the outer diameter, inner diameter and height of the latch is shown in the photo below.

If the disks are original from well-known manufacturers, then as a rule they all have their own number. It can be located in the area of the bolts or on the disk's spokes on the back side.
